Connecting CodeReader Hardware

The CodeReader connects to the USB port of your computer with a bluetooth component that communicates wirelessly with the UniPlug unit plugged into the cars diagnostic systems.

Selecting a Vehicle

The CodeReader is NOT model specific. The PC CodeReader Screen Information as well as the Quick Reference Charts (QRC's) will give you the "most common" diagnostic connector for your selected year range. You DO NOT need to select a specific model of vehicle. The CodeReader Screen Information and the QRC's will now give you the connector location and explain how to put the vehicle into diagnostic mode.

The CodeReader works off the make, year and diagnostic connector fitted to the vehicle to determine how to decode the codes.

Below is an example of the main menu screen.

Start Retreiving Codes

After following all the on screen instructions about finding the diagnostic connector, putting the vehicle into diagnostic mode, and how to connect the CodeReader, you are ready to get the codes. At this point you click the Continue button with your mouse and walk away.

The Rennacs CodeReader software then does all the work of decoding the fault / trouble code and displaying the code number and description on the PC / computer screen. For example: Code 12 Airflow meter.

Save/Print Results

After around 30 to 60 seconds (on average) the CodeReader will have completed automatically reading the codes. Your CodeReader screen will give you the option to PRINT and SAVE your results.

PRINT Directly to Your Office or Workshop Printer:
To PRINT the CodeReader test result, you simply use your normal Windows print options and printer.

SAVE Your CodeReader Test Results to the Hard Drive of the Computer:
YES, you can even Save the fault code test result to the memory of Computer for future reference. An awesome resource to refer back to if there are future customer queries about a previous test.
